Inspired by the work of Climate Sentinels, the Arctic Patrol H2Flow Parka is our latest and lightest addition to the Arctic Patrol Collection, enabling you to retain the warmth you need to explore the coldest depths of the world.
Featuring our H2Flow™ temperature regulation system, the parka offers versatility and comfort in changing conditions and fluctuating activity levels. Together with strategically placed ventilation zippers, the technology allows you to control heat and airflow, keeping you warm by storing hot air, and helping you to cool down when needed.
The combination of strategically shaped and placed insulation panels on the inside and mechanical ventilation on the outside of the parka allow for a unique ‘chimney effect’ – where hot air can be released from the top of the parka efficiently. Physiological differences between men and women were also considered for the placement of other zippers – ensuring the men’s and women’s parka are built for optimal comfort.
Adding to this innovative technology, the parka also incorporates graphene heat conductive lining in its fabric. This unique lining helps to equalize skin temperature by emitting heat from warmer parts of the body and dissipating it to colder areas. Graphene also increases fabric durability and offers anti-static and odor-neutralizing properties.
The parka is built with premium 90/10 Responsible Down Standard insulation, a global standard for best practices in animal welfare throughout the entire retail supply chain. And tough CORDURA® fabric holds up against wear and tear. Together with articulated construction and reinforcement areas, the parka ensures maximum comfort and durability through intensive use.
Multiple pockets, an adjustable hood and gaiters complete this highly technical parka, designed to deliver the level of performance and full protection arctic scientists and researchers rely on in the field.
Heidi Sevestre, Arctic Scientist and self-prescribed “ice doctor” (glaciologist), said:
Having spent a lot of time researching in Arctic regions such as Svalbard, I know it’s absolutely imperative to be prepared for any mission – mentally, physically and with the right protective gear. Gear is essential to your survival, so you need to be able to trust it even as the weather wildly fluctuates, or the risk of danger becomes very real. I think it’s very commendable that Helly Hansen builds its Arctic Patrol parkas with first-hand professional insights.
In our home of Norway, where one third of the landmass is rooted in the Arctic region, we are no strangers to harsh conditions. We’ve built on our cold-weather expertise by partnering with professionals like seabird scientists and Arctic researchers not only because they give great product insights, but because their work is often tied to the future of our planet. These partnerships laid the foundation of the Arctic Patrol Collection: a range of trustworthy, functional, and durable gear. Developed and tested by professionals who work to understand and protect the environment that we love, this collection is made for everyone to weather cold winters. After all, a blizzard or Arctic chill shouldn’t prevent anybody from enjoying nature to its fullest.
The Climate Sentinels are made up of Anne, Silje, Dorothée, Alia, Heidi and Nina. Six scientists, all polar experts driven by the same passions: studying the Arctic and making their knowledge accessible to all.
In 2017 we decided to create a unique project: to put together the first all-female research expedition in Svalbard. In April 2021 they covered 450km on skis in the wild Arctic to unlock the secrets of dark snow. Today, like the "avengers" of the polar regions, or the "6" musketeers, they assemble to show the new face of Arctic research.
Their motto? "Have you not succeeded? Continue! Have you succeeded? Continue!" - Fridtjof Nansen.
