Three people hiking in the mountains

Behind the scenes with the guides of Mountain madness

Professional mountain guides show us what it takes to reach mountain peaks

Mountain Madness is a group of international guides that have led people to the peaks of Everest and beyond. Since its inception in 1984, these passionate climbers offer a diverse array of guided adventures ranging from beginner treks to summiting the highest peaks of the Himalayas.

Catch a glimpse into the world of these professional mountain guides and see where our worlds overlap. Rooted in the ethos of exploration and education, Mountain Madness do more than hike, they share the joy of the outdoors. As they work to equip adventurers with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely enjoy the mountains, we are honored to equip them with the gear they need for their journeys.

What they wear

These guides are responsible not only for themselves, but also for the well-being of their guests and crew. The last thing they need to worry about is the clothes on their back, so we work tirelessly with them to create professional grade gear for all their expeditions.

I rediscover my love of the mountains every time I go out.

Tips from Professional Mountain Guide, Sean

For a Mountain Madness guide, nothing beats being prepared. Below are some tips so you can trust in your gear, and yourself.

  1. Always carry a map, first aid kit and headlamp.
  2. Consult other hikers for up-to-date conditions.
  3. Layer up for warmth. Remove a layer if you get hot.
  4. Bring a summit treat!
  5. Tell someone your plan and when you’ll be back.
  6. When it’s raining, keep some layers dry in your pack.
  7. Bring a GPS with an SOS function.
  8. Go slow, it’s not a race.
  9. Drink ample water and have a purification system.
  10. Be willing to turn around if conditions become unsafe.
