Odin 1 World Infinity Jacket | Award-Winning Design

The award-winning Odin 1 World Infinity Jacket is built with our most advanced technologies and developed with insights from search and rescue professionals to bring mountaineers year-round protection in a lightweight and durable design.

Squamish Search and Rescue are regularly subjected to extreme changes in conditions and activity levels. Among the sprawling network of fast-moving water and adventure trails, they work through the dense fog and torrential rain. The terrain and conditions mean that the team requires an extra breathable jacket that offers high level protection while respecting the natural surroundings in which they work.

Professional grade. Responsibly made.

Only LIFA INFINITY™ would hold up against the team’s specific set of requirements.  At the heart of this technology lies a highly breathable membrane consisting of nearly 75% air by volume. Its nanoscale pore structure is approximately 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet. Made from inherently water-resistant polypropylene, the LIFA INFINITY™ membrane is then stretched in different directions through a series of different temperature zones. This unique membrane is responsible for the waterproofness, wind resistance, and the great breathability you feel in the jacket.

We then moved to the face fabric and selected a lightweight, recycled polyamide ripstop fabric for its good tear strength among sharp-edged rock faces and windproof properties when faced with exposed areas.

Searchable in the wilderness with RECCO®

Among their tips to those who are lost in the mountains, Squamish Search and Rescue advise to “do everything you can to be visible from the air and the ground during the day. Use a whistle or other signaling device to help rescuers or other backcountry users to find you.” Inspired by their feedback, we integrated a whistle on the chest pocket zipper along with a RECCO® transponder, so you can be extra safe in the knowledge that you’re searchable in the wilderness. Tested and developed with professionals.

You don’t need to be a search and rescue professional to appreciate the jacket’s smart design. Awarded the Good Design Award in 2021, this jacket is a favorite with critics and professionals alike. With backpack and helmet compatibility, it’s versatile for a range of activities, including hiking, trekking and climbing. From Aiguille de La Tête Plate (2994m) all the way up to Mont Blanc du Tacul (4248m) in Chamonix, the Odin 1 World Infinity Jacket has proved a trusted companion for professional outdoorsman, Lorenzo Alesi. If you could pick one jacket to have your back all year-round, we’re confident the Odin 1 World Infinity Jacket is a wise choice.

Good Design 2021 Winner

A record number of submissions were reviewed and tested extensively on aesthetic merit, as well as materials, craftsmanship, innovation, sustainability and functionality. Good Design’s Chief Curator Christian Narkiewicz-Laine said of the 2021 award laureates: “The winners of Good Design for 2021 have created excellent products…which won over the jury not only through their aesthetics, but also thanks to their incomparable functionality. With their designs, they are setting the highest standards in their industry.”

“We are very proud to have received this award for the Odin 1 World Infinity Jacket,” said Philip Tavell, Helly Hansen’s Category Managing Director for Ski, Outdoor and Base Layer. “This win reiterates our commitment to creating highly functional, innovative outdoor gear that is purpose built for some of the world’s harshest outdoor conditions. We developed this jacket in collaboration with  search and rescue professionals who know first hand what they need to perform at their best in the outdoors. This helped us to deliver such a high quality product.”
